175W MH: Replace with a 40W - 60W LED wall pack (approx. 5,000-7,000 lumens).

Yes. We carry a specific selection of emergency wall packs that feature built-in battery backups. These units will operate normally on AC power but switch to battery power for 90 minutes during an outage to meet life-safety egress codes.

Glass: Will not yellow over time (UV resistant) but can break if impacted. Common on traditional heavy-duty wall packs.

Polycarbonate: Extremely impact-resistant (vandal-proof) but lower quality versions can yellow over many years of sun exposure. Most modern LED wall packs use UV-stabilized polycarbonate for durability.

A full cutoff wall pack directs 100% of its light below the horizontal plane, with zero light emitted above 90°. This eliminates sky glow, light trespass onto neighboring properties, and glare — making it required in many municipalities and Dark Sky compliant zones. A semi-cutoff wall pack allows a small percentage of light above the horizontal plane, providing slightly broader forward throw for areas where some ambient upward scatter is acceptable. When in doubt, full cutoff is the safer specification for new commercial installations.

Yes — most commercial LED wall packs include an integrated photocell that automatically activates the fixture at dusk and deactivates it at sunrise. Some models feature a NEMA twist-lock photocell receptacle, allowing the photocell to be replaced or upgraded without changing the fixture. For installations without an integrated photocell, an external inline photocell can be wired in line with the fixture.

Loading docks typically require 80W–150W LED wall packs mounted at 14–20 feet to achieve the 5–10 foot-candle illumination levels recommended for active commercial receiving areas. For large loading bays with high ceilings or wide aprons, multiple fixtures spaced along the wall provide more consistent coverage than a single high-wattage unit. Always factor in mounting height and the fixture’s lumen output and beam distribution when sizing for a loading dock application.

Full cutoff LED wall packs are Dark Sky compliant by design, as they direct all light below the horizontal plane and produce no upward light contribution. To confirm compliance, look for fixtures rated as IDA (International Dark-Sky Association) approved or specified as full cutoff with zero uplight (BUG rating of U0). Many municipalities, HOAs, and commercial zoning codes now mandate full cutoff fixtures for exterior building lighting — check local ordinances before specifying.
