For general area coverage, like a backyard or parking lot, choose a wide flood (NEMA 6x6 or 7x7), which spreads light over 100°+ to cover maximum ground. If you need to illuminate a specific object like a flag, sign, or tree from a distance, choose a narrow spot (NEMA 3x3 or 4x4) to concentrate the light where you need it.

For general backyard illumination, 1,500 to 3,000 lumens is usually sufficient. If you are lighting a large driveway or security zone, look for fixtures with 5,000 lumens or more.

A knuckle mount is an adjustable joint with a 1/2" threaded stem. It screws directly into a standard weatherproof junction box cover or landscape stake. It allows you to aim the light up or down and lock it in place.

Many commercial high output flood lights (typically 50W and above) come with 0-10V dimmable drivers. Smaller residential floods and bullet lights are often non-dimmable unless specified. Always check the product specifications if dimming is required.
