The RAB Trimless Gimbal Recessed Downlight is a canless, no-housing-required fixture available in 2 in, 3 in, and 4 in aperture sizes, in both round and square profiles, and in white or black finish. The flangeless trimless design sits flush with the ceiling — no visible trim ring — for a seamless, architectural aesthetic ideal for modern residential and commercial interiors. The adjustable gimbal provides up to 30° tilt for precise accent and directional lighting.

All sizes dim down to 10% on compatible TRIAC and ELV dimming systems. CCT is field-adjustable via an integrated dip switch — select from 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, or 5000K at installation without changing the SKU. Compatible emergency driver: DRI-21-EMGR-DC-D10; emergency driver T20.
Construction & Design
Each fixture features a metal enclosure with a clear polycarbonate lens for even, uniform light distribution. The gimbal mechanism provides up to 30° tilt for precise directional aiming. The trimless mud-in profile integrates seamlessly into drywall — available in white for a classic ceiling-blending look or black for a bold, contemporary contrast.
Light Output & Performance
All fixtures deliver 90 CRI with R9 > 50 and a focused 38° beam angle. Output varies by size: 2 in up to 479 lm at 6W, 3 in up to 820 lm at 9W, 4 in up to 1,342 lm at 15W. Color temperature is warranted to shift no more than 200K over five years. Rated lifespan: 50,000 hours L70 per IES LM-70.
Electrical & Installation
All sizes operate on 120V with a Constant Current, Class 2 driver. Dimmable to 10% via TRIAC/ELV systems. The remote driver/junction box installs easily with quick snap-in connectors — no recessed housing needed. Suitable for new construction and retrofit. IC rated and airtight certified (ASTM E283). Operating temperature: -13°F to 104°F.
