No, you must use a fixture with the correct safety rating. For a bathroom, you need a pendant light that is at least "Damp Rated" to withstand moisture. For covered porches, you also need a "Damp Rated" fixture, but for any area exposed directly to rain or snow, you must use a "Wet Rated" pendant light. Always check the product's UL or ETL rating in the specifications.
