Lutron Vive: Simple, Scalable, Wireless

Lutron Vive is the industry's most versatile wireless solution for commercial retrofits and new construction. It eliminates the need for expensive conduit runs by placing the "brains" of the system in the wireless PowPak modules installed in the ceiling. Whether you need to automate a single conference room or manage energy usage across an entire campus, Vive scales effortlessly. With simple app-based programming and robust Clear Connect RF technology, it saves labor time and ensures your building meets strict energy codes like ASHRAE and Title 24.

Explore the Lutron Vive System

Discover the components that make commercial lighting control easier than ever.

Vive Wireless Hub

The central manager for the system. The Lutron Vive Hub communicates with all wireless devices in the area, enabling timeclock scheduling, energy reporting, and demand response. It allows facility managers to monitor and control the building from a smartphone or PC dashboard.

PowPak Wireless Modules

The workhorse of the system. Lutron PowPak modules install directly onto a junction box above the ceiling or on a fixture. They control the load (0-10V dimming, EcoSystem, or switching) and receive wireless commands from sensors and remotes, eliminating the need to run wires down the wall.

Wireless Sensors

Maximize energy savings with ease. Lutron Vive supports wireless occupancy/vacancy sensors and daylight sensors. These battery-powered devices can be mounted anywhere on the ceiling in minutes, automatically adjusting lights based on room usage and natural light levels.

Pico Wireless Controls

Give users control without the conduit. In a Vive system, Pico remotes function as the wall switches. They can be mounted to glass, brick, or drywall using a wallplate adapter, communicating wirelessly with the PowPaks overhead.

Why Choose Lutron Vive?

  • Fast Installation: Reduces labor costs by up to 70% compared to wired systems by eliminating control wiring.
  • Scalability: Start with one room and expand to the whole floor later. No central processor is required for basic functionality.
  • Code Compliance: Easily meets Title 24, IECC, and ASHRAE requirements with built-in occupancy sensing and daylight harvesting capabilities.
  • App-Based Setup: No special laptops or factory commissioning required. Installers can program the entire system using the Lutron Vive app on a smartphone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the warranty on Lutron Vive products?

Lutron Vive commercial products typically carry a 1-year limited warranty, which can be extended to 5 years (including 100% replacement coverage for the first 2 years) if the system is registered. Commercial warranty terms can be complex; please visit the official Lutron Warranty Support page for full details.

Do I need a Vive Hub for the system to work?

No. For single-room control (e.g., a classroom with one switch and one occupancy sensor), the PowPak can talk directly to the sensors and Pico remotes without a hub. However, if you want timeclock scheduling, app control, or energy reporting, you do need the Lutron Vive Hub.

What is a PowPak?

A PowPak is a wireless control module that functions as a dimmer or switch. It is usually installed above the ceiling on a standard 4x4 junction box. It controls the light fixtures connected to it and receives wireless signals from switches and sensors.

How does Vive help with energy codes?

Vive is designed specifically for code compliance. It makes it easy to implement Occupancy Sensing (Auto-Off), Daylight Harvesting (dimming when the sun is out), and Demand Response (load shedding), which are requirements in modern codes like Title 24 (California) and ASHRAE 90.1.

What is the wireless range of Vive?

Vive uses Clear Connect RF. The range from a Vive Hub to a device is up to 71 feet (through walls). The range from a sensor or Pico to a PowPak is approximately 30 feet (through typical construction).

Can I retrofit an old office with Vive?

Yes. Vive is the ultimate retrofit solution. Because the wall switches (Picos) and sensors are wireless, you do not need to cut into walls or run new conduit. You simply replace the old light fixture or install a PowPak at the existing junction box.

Does Vive work with 0-10V fixtures?

Yes. The Lutron PowPak Dimming Module (RMJS-8T-DV-B) is designed to control standard 0-10V LED drivers, which is the most common dimming protocol in commercial lighting.

Can I control Vive from my phone?

Yes, if you have a Vive Hub installed. The hub hosts a local Wi-Fi network (or connects to the building network) that allows you to use the Lutron Vive App to control lights, set schedules, and monitor system health.

Is there an emergency lighting solution?

Yes. Lutron offers the Vive Emergency PowPak (RMJS-16R-DV-B-EM). It is UL 924 listed and ensures that designated emergency fixtures turn on to full brightness in the event of a power loss, overriding any control signals.

How many devices can one Vive Hub handle?

A standard Lutron Vive Hub can support up to 700 wireless devices (PowPaks, Picos, Sensors). This is typically enough to cover a large floor of an office building (approx. 10,000 sq. ft.).
