Firex I4618 Smoke Detector Ionization Sensor Hardwired with 9V Battery
The Kidde Firex I4618 smoke alarm uses an ionization sensor to detect invisible fire particles associated with flaming fires. This hard wired smoke detector runs on 120V power and has a 9V battery backup for outages. The front-loading sliding battery door makes it easier to change the battery without removing the smoke alarm from the mounting bracket. The interconnected feature allows it to be connected with up to 24 Kidde devices around the home or office.

Four out of the five alarms that I purchased were perfectly easy to install. One had a battery drawer that would not close and required a lot of force which probably will be a problem when I try to change batteries in the future. If I had purchased locally at store I would have returned it for a new one but too much trouble mailing back for replacement.
