CREE RUL outdoor lamp

by Geary S. -

This outdoor lamp is everything it claims to be. Very bright, white light. Very clean light distribution, no dark areas, lightweight, easy to install. Bees lighting gave a very good price, fast shipping and excellent updates.

Cree Dusk to dawn light kit

by Jeffrey M. -

I've had many outdoor pole lights over the years that just don't hold up over time. This Cree LED light kit was the one that my utility company uses and I now know why. It is simply the best light available. It's sturdy and relatively easy to install. All the hardware is included in this kit. Outstanding! Bees pricing was the best and delivery was very prompt. Very Satisfied with purchasing experience.

Face melter!

by Jonathan S -

Used this light to replace my 30+ year old 175w mercury vapor lamp that was mounted to the front of my barn - the MV bulb was at the end of it's life, so I figured I'd upgrade. The Type II designation was perfect for this location, as my barn is perpendicular to my street - it lights quite a long way out and down the street from left to right of the light. Absolutely PERFECT for my installation! I have woods across the road in front of the light, and of course, the barn is to the rear of the light (since it was mounted to the barn) - the Type V would waste light forward and backward on the woods and barn respectively, even though that one has marginally higher lumens.

Compared to the mercury vapor lamp, the color temperature of this one seems more orange/yellow. The light output compared to the failing lamp is literally night and day, however, and is to be expected. This LED reaches MUCH farther to the left and right of itself than the mercury vapor ever did, even when brand new. Just glancing at the light in the dark is akin to glancing at the sun on a clear blue day. Plenty of light for me to work in the driveway directly under the light - it's darn near like mid-day in pitch darkness out there!

This thing is so bright, I no longer need a motion light for my front door, which is 90 feet or so away from the centerline of this light! VERY impressed!

About the only nitpick I can find is a slight dark spot in front of the light (which was mounted about 15' high) on the road, about 10' out from it's centerline. Only other issue in addition to that would be the high purchase price. I was willing to spend the extra money on a Cree, which in the past has proven reliable. At 100k hours, and averaging the amount of time the light is on with the photocell from summer to winter (7 hours in summer, and 15 hours in winter here in MA), it should last me OVER 2 DECADES. Exactly what I was looking for.

It will melt your face! :)
